 workshop programme - spring 2019

The start of a new year is a great time to plan a creative day out. In all of our printmaking workshops you will be working in my studio, in a small group, with a maximum of six students which allows for lots of individual tuition. You might be learning something completely new or expanding upon your current practice, but whatever your starting point you will be going home with your very own series of prints.

A delicious home made lunch is part of your day, taken in our cosy cottage kitchen.
All that and printmaking too - what a day!

Student reduction linocut

REDUCTION LINOCUT WORKSHOPS

Saturday 6th April   10am - 4.30pm or

Saturday 11th May   10am - 4.30pm

The cost of each one day workshop is £80 which includes all materials and a delicious lunch in our cottage kitchen.

Students will be introduced to a ‘Reduction” technique of making linocuts, creating a multicoloured print from a single piece of lino. You will learn how to develop your design and how to cut and print your linocut both by hand and using a press, printing a number of prints in up to three colours. At the end of the day you will take away your unique prints as well as gaining sufficient experience to continue on your own at home.

No previous experience is required - this course is designed for complete beginners to enjoy, and/or those with some previous experience.

Group size will be a maximum of 6 students to allow for plenty of personal attention to guide you through the process. If the workshop that interests you is full, please get in touch in case a place becomes available later. Contact me.

What to bring
All materials for the day will be provided, but you might like to consider and bring any visual ideas or reference images you might like to work with in particular. Protective gloves will be provided, but whilst these are latex free, they do contain powder and you will be using water-soluble inks and solvent free cleaning materials. Please bring an apron to protect your clothes.

TWO-COLOUR LINOCUTS - CREATING LAYERS

Saturday 27th April  10.00am - 4.30pm

This new workshop for 2019 will teach the making of a two-colour linocut, with each colour using a different piece of lino. Using this approach, unlike a reduction print as described above, the 'plates' can be reused and printed again at a later date or modified if so desired. You will learn how to develop a two-colour design, register your two colours and print both by hand and using a press. You will go home with a small edition of prints and will be able to either print more at home or use your skills to create new linocuts with minimum equipment.

The cost of this one-day workshop is £85.00 which includes materials*, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
*Additional paper for making further prints is available at an extra cost.
