 workshop programme - spring/summer 2022

As we surface from winter and the worst of the pandemic it will be good to get back into the studio with some enthusiastic students again.

In all of our printmaking workshops you will be working in my studio, in a small group, revised to 4 students initially, which allows for more space and lots of individual tuition. You might be learning something completely new or expanding upon your current practice, but whatever your starting point you will be going home with your very own series of prints.

We will continue to follow a limited level of precautions in the studio to maintain a safe but enjoyable working environment.

All of your materials are provided together with a delicious light home-made lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
All that and printmaking too - what a day!

Additional dates will be planned for later in the summer.

AN INTRODUCTION TO REDUCTION LINOCUTS

Choose from the following two dates:

Saturday 28th May   10.00am - 4.00pm
FULLY BOOKED

Saturday 25th June  10.00am - 4.00pm       BOOK A PLACE

Students will be introduced to a ‘Reduction” technique of making linocuts, creating a multicoloured print from a single piece of lino. You will learn how to develop your design and how to cut and print your linocut both by hand and using a press, printing a number of prints in two or three colours. At the end of the day you will take away your unique prints as well as gaining sufficient experience to continue on your own at home.

No previous experience is required - this course is designed for complete beginners to enjoy, and/or those with some previous experience.

Group size will be a maximum of 4 students to allow for plenty of space and personal attention to guide you through the process. If the workshop that interests you is marked as full, please get in touch in case a place becomes available later. Contact me.

What to bring
All materials for the day will be provided, but you might like to consider and bring any visual ideas or reference images you might like to work with in particular. Protective gloves will be provided, but whilst these are latex free, they do contain powder and you will be using water-soluble inks and solvent free cleaning materials. Please bring an apron to protect your clothes.

PAINTERLY PRINTMAKING - MONOPRINT LANDSCAPES

Saturday 9th July
10.00am - 4.00pm
 FULLY BOOKED

This workshop will suit those who are interested in a more painterly and experimental approach to printmaking. Students will learn techniques for mark-making on a plate (metal or acrylic), using water soluble printing inks and a variety of tools which may include rollers, brushes, and 'drawing' tools etc., and finally how to take a print from their artwork.

The nature of this process, as the name implies, creates a one-off print, but the possibilities are endless.

At the end of the day you will take away a range of your own unique prints.
All of your materials are included, refreshments throughout the day and a delicious home made light lunch too.

No previous printmaking experience is required.

Group size will be a maximum of 4 students to allow for plenty of space and personal attention to guide you through the process. If the workshop that interests you is marked as full, please get in touch in case a place becomes available later. Contact me.
